Wood Flooring Cuts

FloorMall University - where YOU become the Expert!

n the previous chapter we discussed the two types of construction types for hardwood flooring. In this chapter we will discuss the 3 types of cuts used in hardwood flooring manufacturing. The wood cut refers to the angle in which a board is cut and this can make a big difference in how the final product looks. Wood flooring is either Plain sawn, Quarter sawn or Rift Sawn.

Rift Sawn - Rift boards exhibit a clean, straight, vertical grain pattern which typically forms angles from 30 to 60 degrees with the board's surface.
